Maika: moving private-tour quotes out of spreadsheets

A tour operator that quoted every private tour by hand, and the quoting platform we built with them.

Short answer: Maika is a tour operator with local guides across Vietnam and Asia. Every custom private tour was quoted by hand in spreadsheets. We built a custom platform with an internal quoting engine, multi-currency pricing, a light CRM and an SEO-ready website.

Problem

Maika quotes custom private tours in several currencies. Every quote was built by hand in spreadsheets.

Approach

We started with Workflow Automation and then moved to Custom Software. The result is a custom platform that holds the quoting logic in one place instead of in spreadsheets.

Result

Maika now has an internal quoting engine with multi-currency pricing, a light CRM and an SEO-ready website. We handed over the source code and documentation.

Three steps: quotes built by hand in spreadsheets, Workflow Automation, then Custom Software with the quoting engine, CRM and website.
Figure 1How the engagement progressed, as described on the project page.

What we built

  • Quoting engine. An internal tool for building quotes with multi-currency pricing.
  • A light CRM. Customer and quote records kept with the engine.
  • A public website. Built to be found in search.

The stack

The platform uses Next.js, Payload CMS and NestJS.

What the client received

The client received the quoting engine and CRM, the public website, the source code and the documentation. The measurements are in the handover report that went to the client.

Maika is named with the client's permission. Project figures stay under NDA. You can read the project page at Maika, tour quoting.

If your quotes look like this

The article what a quoting tool needs lists what to decide before you build or buy. For a similar project, start with our Custom Software service and look at pricing.
